Morning Millet

This is a hearty, hot breakfast cereal that’s really easy to make and tastes great reheated.

  • 1 cup millet
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or dried cherries (I like a mix of the two)
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • Grated zest of 1 orange
  • 1 TBSP unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 TBSP honey
  • Toppings (Optional): Brown Sugar, Maple Syrup, Honey… and just about anything else that you like….

Bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil.  Reduce the heat to low and stir in the millet and salt. Cover and simmer for 10minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in the cranberries/cherries.  Cover and continue cooking until the millet is tender, 5-10 additional minutes.  Remove from heat.  Stir in the almonds, orange zest, honey, and butter.
